The Feeder That Finally Understood My Three Feline Personalities
I never thought I’d become the kind of person who talks about cat feeders with genuine enthusiasm, but here we are. My three cats – Luna the food-hoover, Milo the nibbler, and Shadow the anxious eater – had turned mealtimes into a chaotic symphony of meows, stolen kibble, and guilt trips whenever I had to leave town.
What finally pushed me over the edge was coming home from a weekend trip to find Luna had somehow figured out how to knock over the old feeder, scattering a week’s worth of food across the kitchen floor while Shadow watched from a safe distance, clearly traumatized by the whole affair.

The Setup That Actually Worked
Setting up the Vacqueen feeder felt suspiciously straightforward. The app downloaded easily, and connecting to my 2.4GHz WiFi took about two minutes – a stark contrast to my previous feeder that required tech support-level troubleshooting. What really impressed me was how intuitive the bowl configuration was. Being able to use all three bowls separately meant I could finally give Shadow her special urinary health food in one bowl while Luna and Milo got their regular diet in the others.
The moment of truth came when I programmed their first automated meal. I set Luna’s portion to 4 servings (she’s a bit chonky), Milo to 3, and Shadow to 2 since she eats more frequently. The anti-jam mechanism actually works – I’ve watched it push through the oddly-shaped dental treats without hesitation.

The Humidity Warrior
Living in coastal Florida means everything gets damp, including pet food. The built-in desiccant system has been a game-changer. There’s a little color-changing window that shows when the moisture-absorbing packets need replacement – mine lasted about six weeks before turning from blue to pink. Compared to my old feeder where I’d find clumped, stale-smelling food after just a few days, this keeps everything crisp and fresh-smelling.
My favorite unexpected feature? The voice recorder. I recorded “Hey kitties, dinner time!” in my normal voice, and now when the feeder dispenses food, all three come running. It’s become our little dinner bell ritual, even when I’m home.

The Vacation Test
Last month, I took a five-day trip to visit family. This would have previously involved either hiring a pet sitter or worrying constantly about feeder malfunctions. The Vacqueen performed flawlessly. The app showed me every feeding event, and I could even see when the food container was getting low. The battery backup gave me peace of mind during a brief power outage on day three – the feeder just kept going like nothing happened.
When I returned home, all three cats were their normal, well-fed selves without the frantic “YOU ABANDONED US” energy I’d grown accustomed to after trips.

My Rating: 4.5/5 ⭐⭐⭐⭐✨
After two months of daily use, this feeder has fundamentally changed how I manage my multi-cat household. It’s not perfect (more on that below), but it’s the closest thing to a feline restaurant manager I’ve found.
✅ What I Loved
- ✅ True multi-cat functionality: Three separate bowls with customizable portions solved our dietary dilemma
- ✅ Reliable connectivity: Zero WiFi drops in two months of use
- ✅ Food freshness matters: The desiccant system actually works in humid environments
- ✅ Battery backup is clutch: Survived a power outage without missing a meal
- ✅ Voice recording charm: My cats actually respond to my recorded voice
- ✅ Generous capacity: Lasts my three cats about 4 days between refills
⚠️ What Could Be Better
- ⚠️ App could be smarter: No way to sync feeding schedules across multiple bowls
- ⚠️ Bowl depth: The bowls are a bit shallow for cats who like to “dig” while eating
- ⚠️ Desiccant replacement: Wish the packets were more readily available in stores
- ⚠️ Cleaning complexity: Disassembling for deep cleaning takes some patience
Frequently Asked Questions
How difficult is it to program different portions for each cat?
Surprisingly easy! The app lets you set portion sizes from 1-20 “servings” per bowl, and you can schedule them independently. It took me about 10 minutes to set up my cats’ different feeding schedules.
Does the voice recording scare skittish cats?
My anxious cat Shadow was initially startled, but after a few days, she associated the sound with food and now comes running. You can adjust the volume or skip this feature entirely if your pet is noise-sensitive.
What happens if the power goes out and batteries die?
The feeder has mechanical backup – it will dispense one default portion to each bowl if everything fails. Not ideal, but better than your pets getting nothing.
Can it handle different types of food?
I’ve used it with kibble of various sizes and shapes, including dental treats. The anti-jam system handles everything well, but I wouldn’t trust it with semi-moist or irregularly shaped treats.
How often do you need to replace the desiccant packets?
In my humid climate, about every 6 weeks. The color indicator makes it obvious when they need replacement – they turn from blue to pink.
Is the 6L capacity really enough for three cats?
For my average-sized cats eating 2-3 meals daily, it lasts 3-4 days. If you have larger cats or free-feed, you might need to refill more often.
What’s the worst that could happen if the app stops working?
You can still program feedings directly on the device, and it will continue following its last schedule. The app is convenient but not essential for basic operation.
How noisy is the feeding mechanism?
It makes a gentle whirring sound when dispensing – noticeable but not loud enough to startle sleeping humans or most pets.
Can you use it without the divider for single-pet households?
Absolutely! The divider plates are removable, turning it into one large feeding area. The flexibility is one of its best features.
What’s your biggest surprise after two months of use?
How much it reduced mealtime anxiety – for both me and the cats. They’ve developed a calm routine instead of the frantic begging sessions we used to have.
The bottom line: This feeder transformed our chaotic three-cat mealtimes into a well-orchestrated routine. It’s not magic – you still need to refill it and clean it – but it’s the closest thing to having a reliable pet-sitter built into your kitchen. Watching my cats calmly eat their designated meals without the usual drama feels like I’ve finally cracked the code to multi-cat harmony.

serving size is about one tablespoon, but you can add more servings to each feeding.
📅 September 17, 2025
Serving size of Hill’s Science Urinary Hairball Control cat food is one tablespoon (15 ml). I couldn’t find the serving size anywhere, so I measured. That has been the major problem I’ve had with the device – trying to figure out how much serving sizes to give my cats at each time.
App is easy to use once downloaded. Able to schedule number of servings with each feeding per bowl.
The first bowl jammed today for the first time, so that cat needed some extra food, but the next feeding had no problems.
Had the device for about five days now. The cats have gotten used to the sounds and time for their feedings. There is a delay from one bowl to the next as the device spins around to each bowl. But it works for our cats. They have all claimed their bowls.
Easy to assemble, cats begrudgingly accept
📅 July 14, 2025
I wanted to better manage my cats food in order to keep them at a healthy weight. I have 3 and was looking for a an automatic feeder that would have bowls for all of them. This feeder works exactly as described and was very easy to set up. It plugs into the wall but also has a battery slot for a backup. I was able to create a feeding plan for each day and each bowl which is nice. It also gives you the option to feed just by hitting a button even if it’s not scheduled. The top is pretty secure, so unless my cats went crazy I don’t think they can break into it. You also have the option to record a voice message that will sound when food is dumped. I think you can only record one message. The app is basic and easy enough to figure out. It uses military time, which is kind of annoying but nothing major. It also allows you to pick the number of serving sizes for each feeding but doesn’t tell you how big a serving size is. It would be helpful if they included a picture or measurement representing how much is a serving. For now I have 1 serving size set to be dumped several times a day. I kind of wish it had a built in camera to view your cats but I didn’t think of that until after ordering and I’m still happy with this purchase. I have some trips coming up and now I don’t have to worry about me or my sitters forgetting to top off the cats kibble or the cats spilling it. My cats have also figured it out and seemed to be sharing bowls, they were a little unhappy that the free access feeder is gone but are content to just have food. I feed Hills Science diet which are small round pieces and so far there’s been no issue with them getting stuck.

NOT a 3-way feeder
📅 October 1, 2025
This is a sad excuse for a 3-way feeder. Yes, it has 3 bowls and distributes the portions that you program to each bowl. However, it does NOT drop all three feedings at the same time. Upon activation, the feeder rotates s-l-o-w-l-y around, stops at each bowl, and drops the programmed feeding. What animal is gonna sit and wait their turn? None of them! All 3 pets cram their heads into the bowl that is currently being filled, making separately programmable portions a waste of time. You can get the same results with a single bowl feeder. Some parts are cheaply made. Thought I was going to break the desiccant door trying to open it. Difficult to connect to wi-fi as well. Don’t bother.
Cats run to it when it starts to dispense!

Works great for multiple cats, can be controlled with an app.
Easy to set up.

So Far so good. I just got this as we added number 3 kitten to the family. He caught on quick to my 2 bowl automatic feeder so I bought another with 3 bowls.
Does anyone know how to set am and pm in the app when creating the times for the feeding plan?
Reliable Feeder for Multiple Cats
📅 September 25, 2025
This feeder has made life so much easier with my cats. It holds plenty of food, and the WiFi control is really convenient. No issues with jamming so far, and the food stays fresh with the desiccant. I like being able to record a short message—it’s cute when the cats hear it. Solid choice if you’ve got more than one pet to feed.
Stress saver!
📅 September 7, 2025
Have had this for a few months and it is a life saver. With 3 cats, vacations are no longer a stress. Works like a charm and you can regulate how much they are fed and schedule. The cats now wait by feeder at certain times and they wait for our sons voice to come through the speaker. I probably refill once a week, but could most likely last 10 days or so, depending on number of cats and serving size. Get one, I promise it’s gonna save you a lot of stress.
Good feeder!
📅 May 19, 2025
I am absolutely in love with this 3-bowl smart feeder! I use it for my cat, and even though it’s made for dry food only, it’s been the perfect addition to our home. My cat tends to beg early in the morning and again in the afternoon, and I used to worry constantly about being home in time to feed him. Not anymore! The feeder rotates between three compartments, and each one holds a good portion of dry kibble. I love being able to preload his meals for the day and then just let the feeder do the rest. The scheduling feature is super intuitive — I set specific times for each meal, and it rotates precisely when it should. My cat has already figured out the sound of it moving and runs over every time it activates! The lid keeps the uneaten food sealed away from curious paws, which is great for freshness and for keeping my little food bandit from helping himself early. It’s also surprisingly quiet, which I really appreciate in the mornings. I’ve noticed my cat is more settled now that he has a predictable feeding schedule — and I get to sleep in a bit longer! The build quality is excellent: sturdy, sleek, and easy to clean. The bowl compartments lift out for a quick rinse, and the exterior wipes down nicely. It doesn’t take up much room and actually looks nice on the floor — minimalistic but high-tech. If you’re looking for a smart feeder for dry food that can portion out multiple meals a day, especially for one pampered pet, this is 100% worth the purchase. It’s reliable, easy to use, and honestly makes daily life a little more convenient. Highly recommend!
