My Dog’s New Favorite Restaurant: The COZOFU Gravity Feeder
I never thought I’d be writing a review about a dog feeder, but here we are. My golden retriever, Bailey, has always been what I’d call an “enthusiastic eater” – which is a polite way of saying he inhales his food so fast I worry he’ll forget to breathe. We tried slow-feeder bowls, puzzle toys, everything. But the real problem was our inconsistent schedule – some days we’d be home for dinner at 5 PM, other days not until 7. Poor Bailey would stare at his empty bowl with those soulful eyes that screamed “I’m literally starving, mom.”
Enter the COZOFU gravity feeder. I was skeptical – would it really work? Would Bailey figure it out? Would it turn into a raccoon buffet if we put it on our covered porch? Three weeks in, I have answers to all these questions and more.

The Setup That Surprised Me
When the box arrived, my first thought was “this thing is substantial.” The galvanized steel feels like it could survive a nuclear apocalypse. Assembly took about five minutes – basically just attaching the legs and making sure the door mechanism worked smoothly. The magnetic closure is stronger than I expected – it takes a decent nudge from a dog nose to open it, which prevents accidental spills.
I filled it with Bailey’s usual kibble and watched him approach it like it was some kind of alien artifact. He circled it twice, sniffed the base, then tentatively nudged the door with his nose. Click – the door dropped down and food spilled into the bowl. His eyes lit up like he’d discovered fire.
The Real Test: Rainy Days and Smart Dogs
We’ve had some serious thunderstorms recently, and I was worried about leaving the feeder on our covered porch. But the galvanized steel held up beautifully – no rust, no moisture getting into the food. The design is clever because even when it’s pouring, the overhang protects the food compartment while Bailey can still access his meal.
What surprised me most was how quickly Bailey adapted. Within two days, he’d mastered the perfect nudge-to-food ratio. He doesn’t overeat – he takes what he needs and walks away. It’s like he understands this is his personal 24/7 diner.

The 25-pound capacity is a game-changer. We used to refill his bowl twice a day – now I’m topping this thing up once a week. It’s eliminated that “oh no, we’re out of dog food” panic that always seems to happen at 9 PM on a Sunday.
Rating: 4.5/5 Stars
This isn’t a perfect product, but it’s pretty darn close to ideal for our situation. The independence it’s given Bailey (and us) is worth every penny of the $57 price tag.
What I Loved & What Could Be Better
✅ The Wins
- ✅ Weather warrior – This thing laughs in the face of rain and humidity
- ✅ Dog-approved design – Bailey figured it out faster than I can work my TV remote
- ✅ Massive capacity – I’m saving so much time not constantly refilling bowls
- ✅ Sturdy construction – Feels like it will outlive all of us
- ✅ Versatile placement – Works equally well in our kitchen and on the porch
⚠️ Room for Improvement
- ⚠️ Heavy when full – Moving it requires some muscle (25 pounds of food plus steel adds up)
- ⚠️ Loud operation – The metal door makes a distinct “clank” that startles me sometimes
- ⚠️ Not for tiny dogs – The door requires decent force, so very small breeds might struggle

Your Questions, My Answers
How difficult is it to clean?
Easier than I expected! The entire base detaches from the food hopper, so you can wash it like a regular dog bowl. The galvanized steel wipes clean with a damp cloth – no weird crevices for gunk to hide in.
Does food get stuck in the dispenser?
I was worried about this too, but the angle of the hopper and gravity work together beautifully. Even when we’re down to the last cup of food, it still dispenses reliably. No jamming issues so far.
Will my dog overeat with constant access?
This was my biggest concern with Bailey, who acts like every meal might be his last. Surprisingly, he self-regulates now that food isn’t a scarce resource. He eats when he’s hungry and walks away when he’s full.
How’s the rust resistance holding up?
After three weeks of Pacific Northwest weather (read: constant dampness), zero rust spots. The galvanized coating seems legit – no flaking or discoloration even on the edges.
Can cats or other animals get into it?
The magnetic door requires enough force that our neighborhood cats can’t budge it. Raccoons might be another story, but we haven’t tested that theory (and hope we never have to).
Is the height adjustable for different dog sizes?
The legs are fixed, but there are wall-mounting slots if you want to raise it higher. For reference, it’s perfect for my 65-pound golden retriever – no bending uncomfortably.
How noisy is it really?
When the door drops, you’ll hear it – especially in a quiet house. It doesn’t bother Bailey at all, but if you’re a light sleeper and keep it near your bedroom, you might want to consider placement.
What’s the largest kibble size it can handle?
We use large-breed kibble about the size of my thumbnail, and it flows through perfectly. I’d guess anything significantly larger might cause issues, but standard sizes work great.
How stable is it? Can dogs knock it over?
This thing has some serious heft – especially when full. Bailey has bumped into it multiple times while excited about squirrels, and it hasn’t budged. The wide base design prevents tipping.
Would you buy it again?
Absolutely. The peace of mind knowing Bailey can eat when he’s hungry – regardless of our schedule – is priceless. It’s solved a daily stress point in our household.

Watching Bailey trot over to his feeder whenever the mood strikes him has been oddly satisfying. There’s something beautiful about giving your pet that little bit of independence – and getting some back for yourself in the process. This unassuming metal box has quietly revolutionized our daily routine.

Difficult time assembling

This feeder was a nightmare to put together. The pieces were identified by color on a sheet of paper, but the only piece that had a color was the top. No identifying numbers on the pieces either that were in the instructions. The screws were the smallest screws. I’ve ever seen in my life. We could barely hold onto them. Definitely not a task for any adult with large hands. We kept dropping them over and over. Took a long time and a lot of patience to put together Definitely do not recommend.
Hang it on a wall

I had a similar but larger (chow hound brand) feeder for years. Visiting male dogs urinated on it and it rusted. I hung this one up off the ground, on the side of my porch. Luckily I have a mastiff who can reach it. The magnets that hold it closed are a little too strong so I put pieces of tape over them. The only real complaint I have is the large paper sticker on the front. I tried to peal it off and it separated, so I’ll have to go out there with a hair dryer and nail polish remover. I did not find it difficult to assemble.

It works so perfect!!!! Absolutely stylish design. Extremely easy to put together. Real simple step by step instructions. The magnet is super strong and works great while I’m away for a longer period of time and my dogs need fed. Dispenses as the dog eats. Very solid structure. Keeps pests out.
